Welcome to the Spectrum Productions Family! Here are the steps that will be involved in the production of your video, photograph album, or portrait. Please note where your input and participation are needed.
Event Data Form: This form here for downloading if you did not receive one with your contract. It compilest the logistics of coverage such as times and places of events and poinits of contact, important people not to miss, any sensitive situations we of which we need to be aware to avoid embarrassment, contact information for other professionals involved in your event, and any other information which will help us provide the best results and avoid problems. Someone from our staff may be contacting your other professionals and site officials. This form is due 30 days or sooner before your main event.
Photos Supplied by You for Use in Video: Most social event video productions -- weddings, Mitzvahs, anniversaries, and the like -- include growing up or other photographs. If the photograph originated with a digital camera, submit it in digital file form. Also submit it in digital file form if it has been properly scanned, at 300 dpi for 4x6 photos, 150 dpi for 8x10, etc. We offer professional scanning and restoration services for your print photographs (additional cost may apply).
Videos and Movies for Use in Video: Many of our coverage plans feature use of family videos and even home movies to enhance the story. For best results, we need the original video media, with the approximate timing of the desired segment. In the case of home movies, we prefer the video transfer, however we can obtain this transfer service if needed (at additional cost).
We need these photos and videos not later than 30 days before your event. If we are producing a short video for reception presentation, we may need this media earlier.
Video Interviews of Guests: These are a wonderful element for any event documentary video. Our goal is to include the important people, helping them to respond comfortably with the least intrusion on the event. These interviews are on a best-efforts basis, that is, we will make a reasonable attempt but not be overly aggressive. We will not pressure someone who does not want to speak in the video and will make no more than two requests. We will also give priority to important reception activities. The list of interviewees is part of the Event Data Form. Normally, a limit of 10 interviews is typical for an event.
Please inform your desired interviewees well in advance of the event, and direct them to us on site.
Requested Photographs of Individuals: Naturally, there will be many important people, both family and friends at your event. In our experience, group photographs at assigned tables are an excellent way of assuring that everyone is recognizable in at least one photograph. If you want specific individuals or groups, please cover this in your Event Date Form and set a specific time for these photographs to be taken. As with video interviews, we will not photograph someone who does not want to be photographed, and will make no more than two requests.
Video Postproduction Editing: After your event, all video recordings are transferred to special computer hard drives for digital editing. This process typically takes between 20 and 50 hours of labor, in fact, it may take longer to produce a shorter video than a longer one. When editing is completed, you will be invited to preview the edited version as played from our computer through an HDTV. This is the time to correct mispellings and any editing errors or technical gliches. Once that step is done, we will render the results to the media as specified in the assignment. This takes an additional week, usually. All material is deleted from our hard drive system two days after this.
Photo Post Production: After the event photography is completed, all digital photo images are transferred to our computer for editing, minor corrections to color and exposure, and minor retouching. Most event plans involve display on a website where others can order prints for themselves. Your primary viewing will be on an HDTV from a digital display device. We will digitally select candidates and design your album. You will have an opportunity to examine our resulting page layout and select your album materials. Once everything is designed and specified, it will take about 6-8 weeks for album production.
The best results in either photography or video come from cooperation and communication. Please contact Spectrum Productions if you have any questions about the process, or have any information that will affect your service.
